Company Milestones

District Photo, Inc. was founded in 1949 as a small black & white photo lab. The business grew during the last half of the 20th century into a large wholesale photofinishing lab serving mid-Atlantic retailers and a national mail-order film business. In the late 1990′s, DPI acquired a photo business in the UK and transitioned from a mid-Atlantic analog lab to multiple state-of-the-art digital labs shipping millions of photos worldwide every day.

As photography went digital, so did we. The DPI family of companies and labs continued to grow, expanding into ink printing and sublimation gifts. Personal publishing and custom gifting platforms were added to our vast silver halide capability. New online and retail wholesale partners came on board to all of our manufacturing platforms.

Our reach then expanded to Australia with the acquisition of a wholesale digital lab in Melbourne. A natural expansion of our capabilities brought a large school yearbook business and professional photo services to our portfolio. Today, DPI is one of the largest print fulfillment companies in the world.
